Privacy
This page explains what information the Bushline app and this website use, where it goes and why. It covers Bushline for Mac, iPhone and iPad. In it, “we” means Bushline, the maker of the app.

In short
- Bushline has no accounts and no sign-in.
- It does not use your location.
- It has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- It downloads map and height tiles for the part of New Zealand you are looking at, from public map services.
- An order leaves your device only when you send it to us.
What stays on your device
The areas you draw and the models you make stay on your device.
The app keeps the map and height tiles it has downloaded in a cache of up to 200 MB, so the same ground loads faster the next time. Your device can clear this cache whenever it needs the space.
When you save an area, the app writes it to a file in the place you choose. Nothing else happens to that file unless you send it somewhere yourself.
What the app asks for over the internet
To draw the map and build a model, the app downloads tiles for the part of New Zealand on your screen. It asks these services for them:
- LINZ Basemaps basemaps.linz.govt.nz, run by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand, for the Topo50 map and the heights.
- The terrain tiles of the AWS Registry of Open Data s3.amazonaws.com, for any heights LINZ can't supply.
- LINZ's elevation and imagery catalogues, hosted on Amazon Web Services amazonaws.com, to name the survey the heights came from.
Each request names a tile of New Zealand. Like any request on the internet, it also carries your device's IP address. These services can see which tiles were asked for and where the request came from. The app sends them nothing else about you. Their own privacy policies cover what they record.
Orders
When you press Order, the app writes the order on your device. It holds the model and a description of the print: the area, the size, the height, the colours, the style and the price.
You then choose how to send the order to us. It travels by the app or service you pick, such as Mail, and that service's own terms apply to it.
To print your model and post it, we need your name, a postal address and a way to contact you. We use them to make and deliver your order and to contact you about it. We don't use them for marketing, and we don't sell them. The only other party who sees them is the postal or courier service that delivers the parcel.
We keep order records for as long as New Zealand law requires businesses to keep them, and then delete them.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads nothing from other services. The maps and 3D models are drawn by the page itself, and the text uses your device's own fonts.
The server that hosts the site may keep standard access logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep it running and secure.
